Dance 1 – basic elements of dance including rhythm & time, movement qualities & dynamics, space, & use of the body.
Ballet – basis for all dance disciplines; this classical form of dance is characterized by grace and precision of movement and by elaborate formal gestures, steps and poses. Terminology, positions and basic steps are emphasized at the beginning and intermediate levels.
Jazz – jazz dance technique, terminology and movement quality with an emphasis on proper execution of jazz isolations, rhythms and style performed to contemporary music.
Hip-Hop – high-energy class; uses the latest sounds in rap, R&B and pop music together with movements influenced by some of today’s hottest video choreographers presented in an age appropriate manner; encompasses movement that has elements of poppin’, locking, and freestyle movement to give students the opportunity to develop their own sense of style.
Technique – Develop the proper foundation for all types of turns – pirouettes, pique, etc. Time is also devoted to leaps and across-the-floor progressions. This class is for students who wish to master the proper technique necessary to execute more advanced levels of dance choreography–or you may just want to break old, bad habits.
Break Dancing – teaches the basics of a unique style of dance commonly referred to as B-boying. Features lots of fancy footwork, spinning moves, and freezes. SHOES REQUIRED.
Hula/Tahitian – learn the basics of hula exercises, footwork, and hand motions.
